History of CAC
Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) are one of sectors that helps promote employment and GDP growth in Cambodia. However, this sector faces many big issues, one of which is lack of proper accounting records and management which can lead their businesses to be instable in the long run. One of the main reasons why they lack this key item is that those SME owners cannot afford to employ capable accounting professionals to work in their businesses which are mostly run in a traditional style. Whom they can afford is low paid fresh graduates who cannot work for them independently and competently with little supervision. In order to bridge this gap, CAC was established in 2012 with a strong will to build accounting’s future leaders who will thereafter become competent advisors to those SME owners.

This is not a problem but rather an opportunity for good mentoring. Students’ career goals are evolutionary and good mentors assist students with their professional evolution. Mentoring is important, not only because of the knowledge and skills students can learn from mentors, but also because mentoring provides professional socialization and personal support (not only technical skills but also communication and leadership skills) to facilitate success in professional school and beyond. Quality mentoring greatly enhances students’ chances for success.
